What a Week!

Ahhh, the month of May. There are so many fun things to try and squeeze into this month, it makes my head spin most days! Between family and friends, we have 12 birthdays and 3 graduations this month. I have had 6 weddings in the last two weeks. Not to mention field trips, a History report, end of school parties, being the Art Mom, and a photography class I'm taking. I can barely keep up lately, so if I seem scatterbrained or forget to show up to something I'm supposed to be to, forgive me. The kids haven't done any reading or homework this month because I'm done. We've had takeout for dinner about 5 days out of 7. And I love my husband because he never says a word about the house looking like a tornado hit it every day. I promise I'll be a better wife and mother in July. But I'm not complaining, because it is a fun month. Here's some fun things we did this past week:
Bailey and Cade ran the 1 mile in Smithfield Health Days. Later Cade got to be in the parade and throw candy from the float with the Gators swim team.

Candace and I ran the 10K. We're training for the 1/2 Marathon in Bear Lake in June. I love our early morning runs, its a real sanity saver I think. Thank you Candace, for motivating me!

Thanks to his super-cool dad, Cade got a motorcycle. Zac Woodruff got a matching one too. I don't know who's more excited about this one, the little boys or the big boys! It's a dream come true for all of them, and they've had fun taking it up in the hills by our house.

Janette had her baby!! We BARELY got these pictures in time. Isn't she gorgeous at 9 months? We planned to do some outdoor ones later when it warmed up a bit, but it was too late. Baby Jazmine came early! I'm making a CD for you Janette.

One of my favorite things to do each spring is get all dressed up and have a little girl time with Lisa, my best friend from high school and our beautiful daughters. Here we are having Tea at the Grand America Hotel. It was just GRAND!

Another favorite about the month of May is Mother's Day!! Why, oh why can't every day be Mother's Day? It's such a great day and it's over so quickly. I was treated to breakfast in bed (Bananas Foster, my fav) Then we got chocolates in church, love notes from the kids, and in Relief Society we just visited and had desserts. Can we do that every week? My kids spoiled me with the sweetest hand-made gifts, and Dave gave me an unexpected gift- a lens for my camera that I've wanted. Then my Mom and Nessa came up to visit and Nessa brought us leis that she ordered from Hawaii! What a great surprise!

We celebrated Avery's birthday that day too. She's just 5, but tells us she NEEDS a car. We've been hiding this from her for the last 5 months. We were so excited to give it to her! She's wants to keep the bow on it forever.

Avery wanted to invite her friends to a "School" Party! It was quite fun, we had Show and Tell, we played a math game, then read a book about rainbows and made our own.

Next was Science, where we made erupting volcanoes.

Then we had snack time, some school bus cake, and then recess! In all the chaos, I didn't get a group photo. But thank you to all of our friends and family who helped us to spoil Avery on this day. She's been looking forward to being 5 and going to school for a long time.

In Search of Sun!

We're back! Spring break means cleaning out the trailer and heading south to ZION. I was giddy packing up the trailer with all of our summer clothes and swimsuits while it was snowing in Logan. Summer is just 6 hours away from us!! It was heavenly to soak up the sun and shed the jackets.

Our long-time friends the Jensons came too. Bailey and Lia have been friends since birth. Now they are beautiful young women, and they look alot alike!

We are so happy to be in Zions with them again. We missed last year because Vickie was enduring chemotherapy. They have had a rough year, but she just finished her treatments and now the sun is shining again. I admire her for so many reasons, and lately I've found many more reasons to add to the list. She's remained so positive throughout her ordeal.

Back at the campground, this is how we spend a good portion of each day. Avery's favorite thing to do in the pool is ride Shamu. (Dave)

This nut really liked hot-rodding her bike around the campground. Notice the tin can on the front tire? Yeah, so did all the neighbors. Bailey and Cade showed her how to make it sound like a motorbike, and then Avery never wanted to take it off!

Tin foil dinners and s'mores. Followed by a fun game of Truth or Dare. Kids will do anything you dare them to do!

My Kind of Eggs

We decorated eggs last night. But not the typical hard boiled kind. These were much yummier! Rice crispy eggs dipped in white chocolate and a buffet of sprinkles. These are my kind of eggs.

Bailey rode her horse last weekend, after a long winter of going without.
She's going to be volunteering at the American West Heritage Center this summer and helping out with the animals, she hopes. She gets to dress in authentic 1917 period clothing. Do you know the women wore seven (7!!!) slips at a time to get the fullest skirt. Thank goodness that went out of style.

Cade had a swim meet tonight, and this time Grandma and Grandpa Lund came to watch, and Grandpa ended up being a timer. Cade did great and improved by a few seconds.

Avery registered for Kindergarten last week and is practicing her addition, multiplication, and division to get ready. (Thanks to her big brother and sister :)

We are all looking forward to Easter and Spring Break!!

Coming out of hibernation

I think it's time for an update. No more falling snow, no more ugly sweaters, it's SPRING!! WooooHOOOOO! Here's some snippets of what we've been doing while we were hibernating.

I've been taking some classes in Photoshop and Photography. It's so fun.


By the way, my blog is a mess. Could somebody please tell me what I'm doing wrong and why I can't get the words to line up nicely with the pictures? I'm too tired to figure it out right now.

















Bailey got her hair cut. She doesn't like it. Lots of tears, saying "WHY did I cut my hair?!?"

Moki had a birthday. We think she is 11-ish.

Cade had a birthday and we sluffed school to go skiing. Turns out he LOVES it.

Avery learned how to ski too!

Avery decided she needed a makeover after seeing "Alvin and the Chipmunks the Squeakwell". She was so inspired by Jeanette that she really wants to BE her. She found some purple glasses at the mall, and has been wearing them for weeks. She thinks she looks smart. And her new favorite color is purple.

Dave and I have spent the weekends working on the basement. I replaced the stinky carpet and pad in my excercise room and painted the trim white.

Now it looks like this, and it's my new favorite room in the house!

Dave continues to amaze me with his handyman skills. Here he is installing a toilet. Who knew he could do THAT? He completely finished this bathroom all by himself. He is a sheetrocker, ceiling texturer, tiler, plumber, painter, finish work, electrician, and oh yeah, the cabinet builder too.

Ugly Sweater Party

So much to post about in December, and so little time. These are pics from our annual Rivermill Christmas party. Again, I cried all night due to laughing at these funny guys. We stuffed ourselves, then danced it off doing "the evolution of dance". Next we had the difficult task of choosing a winner for the ugliest sweater. Jen's sweater had little acorns dangling from her sweater. (What the ?!?!?)

AND THE WINNER IS ...........

This cool dude, because he went the extra mile and purchased the silver pants to go with it!
